Global League of Champions (GLC) COED Soccer Rules

1. Team Composition
  • Field Players: Teams must have a minimum of 7 players and a maximum of 11 players on the field at one time.

  • Gender Requirements: Teams must have always at least 2 women on the field. If a team cannot field 2 women, they must play short. A team can have more than 5 women on the field at one time. Only 5 men are allowed on the field at any time.

  • Goalkeeper: The goalkeeper can be of any gender.

2. Substitutions
  • Substitutions are unlimited and can be made at any stoppage with the referee’s permission.

  • Substitutions must take place at the halfway line.

3. Game Duration
  • Halves: Each game consists of two halves, each lasting 40 minutes.

  • Halftime: There is a 5-minute halftime break.

  • Overtime: If a playoff game ends in a tie, it will proceed to two 5-minute overtime periods. If still tied, a penalty shootout will determine the winner.

4. Fouls and Misconduct
  • Slide Tackling: Slide tackling is not allowed in COED play. Any slide tackle results in an indirect free kick for the opposing team.

  • Yellow and Red Cards:

    • Yellow Card: A player receiving a yellow card must sit out for 5 minutes, and the team plays one player down during this time.

    • Red Card: A red card results in ejection from the game, and the team plays one player down for the remainder of the game. The ejected player is also suspended for the next match.

5. Offside Rule
  • The offside rule is enforced according to standard FIFA guidelines.

6. Scoring
  • Goals can be scored by any player on the field.

  • If a female player scores, the goal counts as 2 points (optional rule, depending on the league).

7. Free Kicks, Penalties, and Throw-ins
  • Free Kicks: All free kicks are direct unless specified otherwise by the referee.

  • Penalty kicks follow standard FIFA rules.

  • Throw-ins: Must be taken with both feet on the ground and both hands on the ball.

8. Equipment
  • Shin guards are mandatory for all players.

  • Teams must wear matching jerseys with numbers.

9. Game Conduct
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Players displaying inappropriate behavior are subject to disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from the league.

10. Playoff Qualification
  • Teams qualify for the playoffs based on their regular-season standings. Specific criteria may vary by season and division.

11. Forfeits
  • A team that does not have the minimum number of players at the start time will forfeit the match. The final score will be recorded as a 3-0 loss.

12. Referee Decisions
  • The referee’s decision is final. Any disputes should be brought to the attention of the league coordinator after the match.
